Three Kinds of Clients. One CPA Who Actually Gets Each One.
Not everyone who calls us needs the same thing, and we don’t pretend otherwise.
If you’re an individual, that might mean straightforward tax preparation, or untangling a few years of tax questions you’ve been putting off.
If you’re a day trader, it means working with someone who actually understands what trader tax status does for your bottom line, because most preparers don’t.
If you’re running a small business, it means bookkeeping, reporting, and financial guidance, and understanding the Qualified Business Income Deduction and how it affects your bottom line, along with part-time CFO support when you’re ready to level up.
The CPA Behind the Numbers
Dave Lake, CPA/MBA, founded Lake Accounting & Tax after 15 years in public and private accounting, including stints at KPMG, Deloitte & Touche, and Filomeno & Company, plus he was a CFO of two startups where he helped raise $2.5 million in venture financing.
He’s also, in his own words, “not a transactional guy.” He likes staying in the loop with clients all year, not just when it’s time to file. Buying a building, retiring, or figuring out your next move? That’s exactly the kind of conversation Dave wants to have, whether it’s tax season or not.
Outside the office, Dave taught accounting at Southern Connecticut State University for over a decade and serves as treasurer on the board of the Meriden/New Britain/Berlin YMCA, so the community ties run deeper than just doing people’s taxes.
